Camtasia and Screencast-O-Matic are also apparently used a lot by YouTubers, if you do webcam+screen video, but they are subscription and are for streaming use cases. but is a bit more difficult to learn and use.Īnother great free option for streaming/livecasting or some desktop recording scenarios is OpenBroadcaster Studio (OBS Studio). Some free options are BlackMagic DaVinci Resolve and BlackMagic Fusion - which is a very powerful video editor and compositor, respectively, that is free for most practical consumer/prosumer use cases. But if you're just going to be recording your desktop, that probably won't be that important to you.

It's good for learning too, as they also provide some instructional videos for things like lightsaber effects or how to blend or use motion tracking to overlay a face with something else - really cool stuff that you can't do too easily in the others listed. The app gets points for the sheer number of tools it throws at you, many of which acceptably mimic their Photoshop counterpartsthat even goes for some advanced tools like content-aware move, gradients, and effect filters.
COREL VIDEOSTUDIO X9 SUBSCRIPTION PRO
HitFilm is awesome for indie films and offers compositing functionality as well. Corel PaintShop Pro is a high-bang-for-the-buck Photoshop substitute, requiring no monthly subscription. There are some popular options that you didn't list. It's more of in the 'if you're a millionaire' category. However, they do have tons of tutorials and youtube videos from users for those products if cost is really no object, way more instructional videos and capabilities than is available for the others. Although Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects is very popular in the world of video editing and compositing - because of it's cost and subscription license model I would not recommend it for beginners. Generally, people use that if they are doing work for a company or studio - usually paired with After Effects as a compositor.

Relative to the others listed there, it's in a league of its own. Check out some YouTube videos to get a feel for those two.Īdobe Premiere Pro is "prosumer"/professional video editing software, and is extremely pricey. and I'd probably lean a bit more towards CyberLink, but that's preference. Of the ones you listed, I would say it's between CyberLink PowerDirector or Corel VideoStudio.
